Materials required for customer fitting

  • Timer
  • A small pot
  • Large coffee cup of tap water
  • A spatula or tongs

Step 1: Boil 3-4 inches (depth) of water, and turn off microwave or stove.
(If using a microwave boil the water in an extra coffee cup)

Step 2: Drop ApneaRx into the boiled water for PRECISELY 60 SECONDS.
Then remove using a spatula or tongs.

Step 3: Quickly dip ApneaRx into a cup of tap water for 2-3 SECONDS to remove any hot water. Then bite down firmly for 30 SECONDS.
Fitting tips: While biting down, use a sucking motion to mold the heated material to the teeth. Use your tongue to press the material against your inner teeth. Use your fingers on the outside of your lips and cheeks to press the material against the outer teeth.

Step 4: Remove ApneaRx from the mouth and put it in a cup of tap water for several minutes to set the impression.
Note: ApneaRx works best with a deep impression of the teeth. If this does not occur, repeat steps 1-4.

Step 5: Adjustment – ApneaRx should be at the factory jaw setting of “3”.
Hold ApneaRx with the left hand in the “C” position. Simultaneously Squeeze in both sides of the upper jaw piece with your right thumb and forefinger. If required, use your left fingers as shown to assist movement of ApneaRx.

  • To move the lower tray (jaw piece) forward move the upper tray in the 1mm to 10mm direction.
  • To move the lower (jaw piece) tray backwards, “rock” the upper tray from side to side going from 10mm to 1mm.
  • Make sure both tray sides are adjusted to the same setting.
User Information
  • Some people may experience excessive salivation, dry mouth, and tenderness of the jaw, teeth and gums during initial use of ApneaRx. To minimize this effect, ApneaRx should be worn for 1-3 hours for the 1st 2 days.
  • ApneaRx should be worn for a couple of nights at the factory setting (3mm) then gradually adjusted on a nightly basis by 1 mm increments (forwards or backwards) until symptoms have been reduce or the device becomes uncomfortable. Most sleep apnea can be reduced with a setting between 3-7 mm.
